Aspergers Syndrome, Tic disorder
NEW DIAGNOSIS: tic disorder as determined by St. Louis Childrens Hospital Neurological Department. Probably Tourettes. She also has Aspergers Syndrome.
Finally…we know what it is.
Portia, six years old, having these “episodes” since March of 2008. Seen a neurologist who is waiting to see what the other specialist says about her possibly having Aspergers Syndrome. I’m worried that it’s still seizures, she has them everyday, sometimes all day long, one right after another. Are these ticks, or seizures? Worried.

i’m trying to …
i’m trying to figure out what my brother has. It could be similar to what your girl has. I don’t know if anyone can help.
My little brother he’s 8 and he started having these involuntary movements - his head would rotate from the neck in a circular motion.
I’ve been observing him and sometimes his upper body would move as well. I asked him if he was doing it himself but told me he can’t control it.
Can anyone tell me what’s going on?
Do i need to go to the doctor to get him checked out asap?
Which one of the …
Which one of the freaks has Asperger’s, ?
Seems like absence …
Seems like absence seizures, but anyhow she should have help to deal with this, even if it are tics or something like that.
Your other child is also very cute though!
To me those …
To me those muvements seem tics…so I think it’s probably la tourette syndrome, but if you want to be sure she should do a videoEEG test
poor child.
tear …
poor child.
tear filled my eyes after seeing this.
Absence seizure i think.
If one showed SZ …
If one showed SZ activity and 2 did not . . . then you really should seek an Epileptologist to confirm whether or not she has a SZ disorder. Epileptologist specialize in SZs.
I think it might be …
I think it might be an absence/cluster seizure. One of the two. I have seen she does it in the other videos, so I am pretty sure she doesn’t mean to do it. You should ask someone professional or show these videos to a neurologist.
I have tourettes …
I have tourettes and itlooks like thats what she has. Take her in to see a professional, though.
yeah me too… I …
yeah me too… I get those episodes but not like your daughter I mostly start shaking and drift off to nowhere land but after that I’m just fine.. I believe she has tourettes because my friend has it and she does that all the time.

hey im 16 and ive had petite mal seizures since i was 5 and i always just kinda stare out into space i never did anything like this.
I really think this …
I really think this is tourettes syndrome. You should research and find a better doctor, someone who will help you, and tell you for sure what she has. Too many doctors are saying too many different things.
Looks like …
Looks like Tourettes to me.
In the car, her …
In the car, her episodes looked a little more intense (maybe she was more excited or stressed). This definitely looks like Tourettes Syndrome to me. My 7 year old has it and he does complain of his eyes hurting when he has that type of tic. His tics rotate. He’ll get rid of one and then pick up another.
The two people I …
The two people I know with tic’s do not realize they are having them, and they also do not have pain with them. I don’t know if that’s typical or not. Pain can go along with seizures, so can fuzzy thinking, exhaustion, emotional outbreaks, funny smells, wierd noises, etc . Also, stress, exhaustion, dehydration and illness can make seizure activity increase. My 6 year old has seizures and autism. sometimes it goes hand in hand. its called MOURA AUTISTIC
Not absence …
Not absence seizures - they look like partial complex where she is still conciously aware but non-responsive like my 3 kids with partial complex seizures. Definately agree - pediatric neuro is the only way to go. Adult dr’s are not trained in the specifics of pediatric issues and could very well miss something.
Rosalie doesn’t wet …
Rosalie doesn’t wet. But many kids do, so I’ve been told. Rosalie has PDD NOS (autistic spectrum disorder) and epilepsy. It took over 2 years to potty train her and she still has BM accidents 2 -3 days a week. Still wears pull ups at night at 6 years old. I would really go with your gut instinct. My oldest had 3 ‘normal’ eeg’s (over 2 years) until they did a 48 hour one. She is having seizures every 2 -3 hours night and day. So much for getting her off the meds! Good luck
Do your kids wet …
Do your kids wet their pants during these episodes? She’s been wetting her pants daily for months now, and still has these “tics” or whatever they are. The docs told me she is autistic.
She’s had 3 EEG’s, …
She’s had 3 EEG’s, 1 showed seizure activity, 2 did not. I’ve requested that she get a second opinion. We have an HMO, and there is only 1 in our system. I’m hoping they’ll send us to the Childrens Hospital in Chicago.
I will look that up …
I will look that up. I have asked her doctor to refer us for a second opinion. Her neurologist thinks it’s a tic disorder. But she’s wetting her pants everyday. I still wonder. She had 3 EEG’s, 1 showed seizures, 2 did not. Thanks.
If you don’t know …
If you don’t know what is wrong still, go to a paediatric consultant and insist that your daughter has a telemetry and is refered to a neurologist. If she has epileptic activity it is not doing her any good to allow it to continue unmedicated. look up nystigma it looks similer and that is epilepsy related.
I have 3 kids with …
I have 3 kids with partial complex seizures. One simply shudders, sometimes once, sometimes over and over and over. One gets this far-away look on her face and turns towards your voice but looks through you and can’t respond. One has massive emotional swings and one of her eyes dialates over and over. All 3 remain concious. None of them are fully aware of what’s going on. Sometimes the EEG doesn’t catch them which is a bummer!!! I think you’re on the right track - good luck!
