POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY is the heart and soul of my work. We have opened the Positive Psychology Center of Los Angeles to offer a place for therapy, learning, study and training.
Inside all of us is a deep desire to be happy, to realize our potential, not to waste our time, nor squander our gifts.
Positive Psychology is the study of happiness and well-being. We teach people how to live wonderful lives. My work is based on research done at our major universities. I teach at UCLA MedSchool. Unlike traditional therapy which often concentrates only on how to get from -5 to neutral, Positive Psychology is focused on how to help you move from neutral to +5.
I help with depression … stress and anxiety … the search for a wonderful relationships … and people who are trying to find deeply meaningful work.
When people ask me how to choose a therapist, here’s what I tell them: Choose someone who you think has a caring mind and a wise heart … whose experience you trust … someone who you like … and someone who sees the immense possibilities in you.

Jeffrey Guterman describes the theory and practice of Albert Ellis’s Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) across the following issues: human nature, theory of problem formation, theory of change, and techniques. Topics include the ABC theory, the distinction between rational beliefs and irrational beliefs, and disputing irrational beliefs. See http://www.jeffreyguterman.com for more information. Erratum: About half way through the video (at 04:55), Jeffrey Guterman incorrectly uses the term “irrational beliefs” to refer to “preferences, wishes, hopes, desires, likes, and wants…” when it was his intention to refer to “rational beliefs.”
