Music and Psychology or Music Therapy?
I’m a sophomore now, but I’m doing a lot of college planning. I have decided that I definitely want to pursue a career in music therapy because it’s the perfect way for me to combine my love for music with my love for helping other people. However, not all schools offer music therapy as a major. If I decide to attend a school that doesn’t offer music therapy as a major, should I do a double major in music and psychology and seek to earn my masters in the future in Music Therapy? Or would it just be best to do my undergraduate studies in music therapy instead?
I would wait until your in college and then have a meeting with your adviser there…you have so much time to figure this out and change your mind. Hold off until you are in college and then discuss there what is the best plan of action. Its great you have a clear goal already, so keep doing what you love. It will work out. Good luck!

Your major is not equivalent to your profession–you can still be a music therapist if there isn’t a specific undergraduate "music therapy" degree. Heck, you can major in Classics and become a wealthy businessman.
Don’t limit your options to the few schools that have music therapy majors, unless you actually like them/would consider them regardless of that. If there are schools that you really like that don’t have music therapy, go there and major in related fields (like you said, psychology and/or music).
