I made this “video” just to ilustrate the main differences between these professional areas.

It should help anyone who needs any kind of medical care, to choose better instead of trying first and then evaluating if the choice was right…

If You liked it, rate it.

speech and lang is BBB to get in - more a technical college uni
or i could do english or psychology at a higher uni for ABB… but phd is very hard to get into isn;t it?
is there any point… or should i go for speech and lang.. a more vocational choice?

what do u think would be more enjoyable or more sucessful in the long run?

English and Psych require a PhD to get a job in those fields. Speech Therapy will lead to a job sooner.

How do I get the courage to see a psychiatrist?

I’m really self conscious that I’d be judged or something; I go to a college where they have one in the health and wellness center so it wont cost anything, but I can’t bring myself to say out loud that I might have a problem.
I have to talk to the secretary or the front desk guy but I don’t know if you only go to the shrink if you are already in dire need (ie suicidal and that alike); I’m not there yet but I shouldn’t have to wait until it happens!

How does one go about seeing a shrink? I know that there are more than just people who’ve had mental breakdowns that see shrinks.
I probably won’t be judged for this but I feel weird! Please help!

Just call the student center up and say you need to see a therapist.

They will take it from there.

Good for you for being proactive when it comes to how you are feeling. That is really cool, and is a sign that you are really growing up (the ability to recognize when you need help and then ask for it).

Good luck.

Peace.

Minority Children and Adolescents in Therapy

Minority Children and Adolescents in Therapy

As the population of minority youth continues to mount, it becomes increasingly clear that mental health professionals need the most up-to-date information available when responding to the pressing problems and needs of minorities. Minority Children and Adolescents in Therapy addresses this need by offering a comprehensive, up-to-date examination of therapy with minority children from four major minority groups–Asian and Pacific Americans, American Indians, Hispanic Americans, and Black Americans. After an introductory discussion of principles to be considered in therapy with ethnic minority children and adolescents, the author systematically applies these principles to therapy. Distinctive cultural values of child development and family functioning of each ethnic group are explored. And, to help the reader understand cultural specific intervention strategies, the author shares many useful case vignettes. Designed for professionals and students in psychology, human services, and ethnic studies, this volume will play a major role in helping minority children and adolescents. “This is a very important work for those who are engaged in work with ethnic minority children and adolescents. . . . This book will make appropriate and essential reading for counsellors, therapists, and students of mental health practice.” –Counselling

or if you applied to schools to be a psychologist, NOT A THERAPIST, would it look bad? and would it be easy to have a side job while going to school for it? what are good schools? how long does it usually take?

links are good, and don’t feel like you if you cant answer all the questions, that you cant answer at all! thanks!
‘apply’ as in for a college to get a degree in psychology

i dont know. i cant find it anywhere. i guess you would have to talk to a specialist on that one. my guess is you can do it.
